How big is my baby at 30 weeks?
At 30 weeks your baby is about the size of a head of cabbage, around 40.5 cm long and 1.52 kg. Before about 14 weeks babies are measured from crown to rump; after that the figure is head to heel. These are typical figures from fetal growth charts. Your own baby may be bigger or smaller, and your scans are what count.
What is my baby doing at 30 weeks?

What should I know in Ireland at 30 weeks?
- Paternity leave gives a new parent 2 weeks off, taken any time in the first 6 months after the birth. Give your employer written notice at least 4 weeks before.
- Apply for Paternity Benefit at least 4 weeks before paternity leave starts, or 12 weeks before if self-employed, through MyWelfare.ie.
- Each parent is also entitled to 9 weeks of paid parent's leave during the first 2 years of your child's life.
When to get help: Contact your midwife, GP or maternity unit if you feel very low, anxious or distressed, as specialist mental health support is available through maternity services. HSE: when to get help.
