You might already be in it

Since 1 January 2026, employees aged 23 to 60 who earn €20,000 or more and have no pension through payroll are enrolled in MyFutureFund automatically. Look for it on your payslip.

Three people pay in

For every €3 you put in, your employer adds €3 and the State adds €1. So €3 of your pay becomes €7 in your pension pot.

It starts small

In the first three years you pay 1.5% of your salary and your employer matches it. It rises in steps to 6% each by year 10. Employer and State top-ups stop at a salary of €80,000.

Leaving is a choice with a window

You must stay in for 6 months. You can then opt out in months 7 and 8 and get your own payments back, or pause later. If you leave, you're re-enrolled after 2 years if you're still eligible.

Before you opt out

Look at what you'd give up: your employer's matching payments and the State's top-up. You can see your fund on the MyFutureFund portal with your MyGovID.
